The cemeteries Žale and Plečnik’s Žale are registered areas of cultural heritage and so noted in the Central Cultural Heritage Register at the Cultural Heritage Administration. Due to this reason the monuments of national importance are protected under monumental protection. In addition Plečnik’s Žale is a monument of European importance, because it bears the distinction of European cultural heritage. This is the reason why the cooperation of the company Žale d. o. o. and the Association of Significant Cemeteries in Europe - ASCE is even more improtant.

Also other cemeteries in the area of MOL are protected as cultural heritage units or included in the set of protected units of cultural heritage, which are noted in the register of real estate of cultural heritage and dealt with in the Professional Outlay for the Protection of Cultural Heritage for MOL.
